MANILA, Philippines. 18 July 2024 – Reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship, homegrown restaurant company Jollibee Group participated in the Laguna Lake Development Authority’s (LLDA) latest cleanup drive held in Barangay Poblacion, Biñan, Laguna. Thirty employee volunteers from various Jollibee, Mang Inasal, and Greenwich stores participated in the said activity.

Around 670 kilos of plastics were recovered from the cleanup drive, which is part of the “Abot-Kamay Para sa Laguna de Bay: Mission in Action-Solid Waste Recovery” program of the LLDA. The program aims to mitigate the adverse effects of plastic waste on Laguna de Bay and its surrounding ecosystems.

“Safeguarding our environment is a collective responsibility, and we are glad to continue actively supporting LLDA’s waste recovery program, consistent with our sustainability commitments,” shared Pepot Miñana, Jollibee Group Chief Sustainability and Public Affairs Officer. “We are also grateful to our employee volunteers, who bring to life our sustainability commitments not only within Jollibee Group, but also to the communities we serve.”

Last April 30, in celebration of this year’s Earth Day, employee volunteers from different stores of Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, and Burger King also joined LLDA in a cleanup effort in Barangay Sucat, Muntinlupa City. The Company also provided meals to all 200 volunteers from different organizations.

These initiatives form part of Jollibee Group’s Sustainability Agenda “Joy for Tomorrow,” a unified effort to strengthen sustainable business practices in the company. The agenda, centered on the key pillars of Food, People, and Planet, consists of 10 focus areas that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
